On a bend on the bank of the Coffs Creek the site creates a rare break in the vegetation that runs along the creek edge all the way to the city centre. The building was conceived as timber tree houses ‘hung’ within the creekside vegetation. A large cantilevered concrete awning creates a beautiful, sheltered space to sit and overlook the creek edge. The timber tree houses contain the apartments which are encircled by verandahs on all sides, screened by the operable timber batten screens. The buildings are pulled back from the creek edge to enable a ‘re-vegetation’ of the bank, creating a softer, more natural edge, whilst allowing long views down the length of the creek.
