The brief was to retain and enhance the character of a prominent industrial building whilst modernising it for a different use. With the client wanting the building to adapt to different tenants over time we decided that any interventions needed to maintain the open warehouse spaces and the textural feel of the building. Thus all services were located in a common area able to be sub-divided from all areas in the building in a number of ways, in order to maintain usage flexibility. A battened timber ceiling upstairs, lit by up-lights, highlights the beauty of the original curved roof structure whilst providing acoustic benefits and textural beauty.
